Glen Rose, a city know for its dinosaur-rich heritage, is about to add another chapter.
"Land of the Dinosaurs" will debut at the Texas Amphitheatre on May 28 with evening performances Thursday-Sunday and running through Aug. 21.
The show is the brainchild of Granbury's Jay Clayton, a regular on the local theater/entertainment circuit for years. He is billing the show as an original PG-rated production which will feature some of the biggest stars on the planet.
And it's a musical, with styles ranging from Celtic to contemporary broadway to blues to rock and country.
"Our talented cast of live actors and our animatronic animals interact in a fast-paced family friendly show written to take advantage of the great performance space at the Texas Amphitheatre," said Clayton. "With non-stop excitement, great relationships, original songs, there's something for people of all ages."
The show will have 51 evening performances.
Tryouts will be Feb. 19 from 7-9p.m., Feb. 20-21 from 2-6 p.m., and Feb. 22 from 7-9p.m. All tryouts will be at the Texas Amphitheatre in Glen Rose.
Puppeteers and technical staff are also encouraged to attend tryouts, except for Feb. 19, which is for actors only.
Clayton said some of the roles may be double-cast.
Part-time rehearsals and original cast recording sessions will begin as soon as casting is completed, Clayton said. All performers and staff are paid.
